Ashwin quiere “jugar más”, pero no como parte del vestuario indio, se retira “por falta de creatividad”

Ravichandran Ashwin soltó la sopa sobre su repentino retiro, diciendo que la decisión fue instintiva y no fue gran cosa.

Ravichandran Ashwin spilled the beans on what was the reason he decided to retire suddenly from international cricket midway through IND vs AUS Test series. The veteran spinner took the world by surprise by deciding to hang up his boots just after the IND vs AUS 3rd Test. While a lot of fans pointed out that he deserved a farewell Test while also questioning the timing of his decision, the Tamil Nadu star has broken his silence on the matter.

Ashwin reveals why he retired

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin revealed that he felt that his creativity was over after he played only in the second Test while he was dropped from IND vs AUS 1st and 3rd Test. He said that there was a possibility of him not playing the 4th Test and hence he decided that he could not explore his creativity any longer. He further added that the decision was made instinctively and said that it was “no big deal.”

You think what happened? I did not play the first Test. I played the second, did not play the third. It was possible I could play the next or not play the next. This is a side of my creativity and I was looking to explore it. At that time, I felt my creativity was over, so it was over. It was simple,” Ashwin said.

“Want to play more cricket…”

Ashwin stated that while he intends to play more cricket, it was not as a part of the Indian dressing room. The veteran spinner had earlier said that he would continue to play in the IPL and in domestic cricket. He added that it was always better to finish when people asked “why” and not “why not”.

I want to play more cricket. Where is the place? Obviously not in the Indian dressing room but from somewhere else… It is always better to finish when people ask ‘why’ and not ‘why not,’” he added.

Ashwin dismisses farewell Test demand

What difference will this make if I came out with the ball and people are clapping? How long will people talk about it? When social media was not there, people talked about it and forgot after one week. There is no need for a farewell,” Ashwin said.
