Después de llamar “hipócrita” a Gautam Gambhir, el exjugador del KKR justificó su postura.

El KKR de Manoj Tiwary ganó su primer título de IPL en 2012 contra el CSK liderado por Gambhir.

Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has found himself in the midst of a raging storm after terming India head coach Gautam Gambhir a “hypocrite.” Ever since his aggressive interview with News18 Bangla, his comments went viral, and there is a burning surprise going on amidst the cricketing circle. However, Tiwary isn’t in a mood to back out. Instead, he’s been offering clarity on his comments—a video shared on social media platform Twitter.

What did Manoj Tiwary say on Gautam Gambhir?

In his interview, Tiwary also criticized Gambhir’s dictatorship in team selection for the side, alleging that the latter was biased towards players from Mumbai in selecting over actual deserving ones. “Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He doesn’t do what he says. The captain (Rohit Sharma) is from Mumbai, Abhishek Nayar is from Mumbai. Rohit has been pushed to the forefront. There is no one to speak for Jalaj Saxena. He performs well but keeps quiet,” said Tiwary. Indeed his comments certainly touched a raw nerve, as even some former and current KKR players like Nitish Rana and Harshit Rana reacted in defence of the latter.

Aakash Chopra jumping in the conversation

The controversy didn’t take much time to draw in former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra. On his YouTube channel, Chopra said Tiwary was only boarding the Gautam Gambhir-bashing bandwagon. “Manoj behti Ganga mein haath dho raha hai,” Chopra said, meaning that Tiwary was opportunistically timing his comments.

However, Tiwary looked badly out of sorts. “No such thing, Aakash bhai. Why should I need to wash my hands in the flowing Ganga? The river is so nearby that I can have my hands washed out there any time,” he replied jocularly, adding his views were not affected by someone else’s suggestions but were based on his experience.

Tiwary has also explained what he had claimed about KKR’s title success in 2012 when the left-hander took too much credit. “It wasn’t just him, players like Jacques Kallis, Manvinder Bisla, Sunil Narine played a really important role in that team,” he said, “but by the time the social media actually blew out, it was regarding Gambhir being the captain of the side.
