Después de una salida impresionante a nivel personal, KL Rahul pidió un descanso en lugar de jugar para Karnataka en el Trofeo Vijay Hazare. Pero ¿cuál podría ser el motivo de esta acción?
Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, who had a decent outing in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar series, scored 276 runs at an average of 30.66. He has now opted out of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the recently concluded series, Rahul’s flexibility in batting once again came into focus. However, it was his ability to score runs at the top order that became a highlight.
The Perth Test was a prime example, where he and Yashasvi Jaiswal built a strong second-innings partnership, adding over 200 runs. Despite India losing the series by a humbling 1-3 margin, but it was KL Rahul who displayed grit and contributed valuable runs when needed.
Why KL Rahul is not playing in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Although no specific reason has been disclosed, it is believed that KL Rahul requested a break due to the gruelling two month long Australia tour. With several key assignments ahead, including the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy, recovery seems to be the primary reason for his decision.
As the red-ball series is now concluded, the focus shifts to limited-overs cricket. Rahul, who had a prolific World Cup 2023, showcasing excellent performances both as a batter and wicketkeeper, will aim to replicate his success in the upcoming Champions Trophy ,if he secures a spot in the Indian squad.
Meanwhile, news regarding Rahul’s availability for the Ranji Trophy is also garnering attention. For this decision about his participation in the tournament’s second phase, which begins on January 23, will be made at a later date.
However, Washington Sundar from Tamil Nadu will be available only if Tamil Nadu reaches the semifinals, while Karnataka’s Prasidh Krishna and Devdutt Padikkal will be available for the knockout matches.
