California wildfire map: Here’s where the LA County wildfires are burning
THIS IS BREAKING NEWS. AND THAT BREAKING NEWS COMES OUT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, WHERE YOU SEE RIGHT NOW A LIVE LOOK AS PRESIDENT BIDEN AND GOVERNOR NEWSOM ARE MEETING FIRST RESPONDERS. THEY’LL BE HOLDING A NEWS CONFERENCE REGARDING THE WILDFIRES IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. WE CAN TELL YOU THAT THESE THREE FIRES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HAVE TURNED DEADLY SO FAR. AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE HAVE DIED. TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EVACUATED FROM THEIR HOMES. THE FIRE NOW HAS COVERED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF ACRES IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. AND WE ARE JUST MOMENTS AWAY NOW FROM THE PRESIDENT AND GOVERNOR NEWSOM, FROM ADDRESSING US AND BEING ABLE TO PASS ALONG THE VERY LATEST INFORMATION. WE DO KNOW THAT BOTH OF THEM WERE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED TO HEAD TO DC FOR THE FUNERAL OF FORMER PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER, BUT INSTEAD BOTH DECIDED TO STAY HERE ON THE WEST COAST. AMID THIS EMERGENCY. RIGHT NOW. LET’S TAKE A LISTEN IN RIGHT NOW AS EVERYTHING GETS UNDERWAY. COUNTIES THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR AN EVENT JUST LIKE THIS. AND ON TUESDAY MORNING, THE PALISADES FIRE BEGAN. I’D NOW LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO CHIEF CROWLEY, WHO CAN TOUCH ON THE PALISADES FIRE CHIEF. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MR. PRESIDENT. I’M HERE JUST TO PROVIDE YOU A BRIEF ON THREE SIGNIFICANT FIRES THAT HAVE OCCURRED WITHIN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES. WITH THAT, I’M GOING TO BE FOCUSING ON THE PALISADES FIRE. THAT FIRE BROKE OUT YESTERDAY MORNING AROUND 1030. WE DID PRE-DEPLOY A NUMBER OF RESOURCES. WE KNEW THIS WAS THERE WAS A POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO OUR CONSTITUENTS DUE TO THE WEATHER EVENT. HIGH, HIGH, HIGH WINDS. I’VE NEVER SEEN THE WINDS IN MY 25 YEAR CAREER, SO WE LEANED FORWARD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND PRE-DEPLOYED WITH THAT, WE HAD A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FIRE THAT OCCURRED. WE HAD AN AGGRESSIVE FIRE ATTACK. THE FIRE HAS GROWN FROM ORIGINALLY TEN ACRES TO 10,802 ACRES. AS WE SPEAK. IT’S AN ACTIVE, ACTIVE FIRE FIGHT WITH OUR FIREFIGHTERS, AND THEY’RE DOING THEIR VERY BEST TO PROTECT OUR PEOPLE WITHIN THIS AREA. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, BECAUSE OF THE WINDS AND THE LOW HUMIDITY, WE HAD A SECOND FIRE ALSO BREAK OUT. AND THAT WAS THE HURST FIRE, WHICH IS JUST NORTH OF THAT AREA. AGAIN, THIS WAS CLOSE TO 11,000 ACRES. THIS IS CLOSE TO 500 ACRES THAT ALSO BROKE OUT. THE INFORMATION THAT I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU IS ALSO THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MULTIPLE FIRES IN THE AREA, WITHIN THE CITY, BUT ALSO THE COUNTY. THAT’S THE SECOND FIRE THAT ACTUALLY CAME OUT. AND WE ARE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN THAT FIREFIGHT. THE THIRD FIRE THEN BROKE OUT THIS MORNING AT 4:00 IN THE MORNING, IN WHICH WE HAVE AN ACTIVE FIREFIGHT THERE AS WELL. WE’RE WORKING WITH OUR LOCAL JURISDICTIONS, OUR STATE, REGIONAL AS WELL AS FEDERAL. SO WE’RE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN TO PROTECT LIFE FIRST AND PROPERTY. NEXT WE’LL GO AHEAD AND THEN PASS THIS OFF TO POLICE CHIEF MCDONNELL. THANK YOU. CHIEF. MR. PRESIDENT, IT’S AN HONOR TO BE ABLE TO BE HERE AND BE PART OF THIS AND REPRESENT THE MEN AND WOMEN OF LAPD AND POLICING TO SUPPORT OUR PARTNERS IN THE FIRE SERVICE. WHAT WE SAW HERE IN THE LAST 24 HOURS IS UNPRECEDENTED. I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. FIRE IS DRIVEN BY THE TYPE OF WINDS THAT WE SAW UP TO 100 MILES AN HOUR. OUR ROLE OUT THERE IS STRICTLY SUPPORT TO BE THERE FOR EVACUATIONS, TO GET PEOPLE OUT OF THE AFFECTED AREA, TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL AND THEN CRIME SUPPRESSION. AS THE FIRE IS FOUGHT AND SOME MAY COME IN AND TRY AND TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO INTO THESE HOMES AND STEAL FROM THEM. SO WE’RE GOING TO BE ON TOP OF THAT. I JUST WANT TO SAY THE RELATIONSHIP WE ENJOY HERE, IN MY CASE, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF MAYOR BASS, BUT ALL OF OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS IS UNLIKE, I THINK, ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY. WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POLICE AND FIRE THAT WE DO HERE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE DO THIS KIND OF THING FREQUENTLY, NEVER TO THIS LEVEL, BUT I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS. AND AS WE GO INTO THE NEXT FIVE YEARS WITH THE SUPER BOWL AND THE WORLD CUP AND THE OLYMPICS COMING UP, IT’S CRITICAL THAT WE MAINTAIN THOSE PARTNERSHIPS. SO THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY, SIR. SO NEXT UP. OH, SORRY. LET ME INTRODUCE MY PARTNER FROM THE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT, CHIEF TONY MALONEY. YEAH. SO THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT. I’M GOING TO BE GIVING YOU AN UPDATE ON OUR EATON FIRE, WHICH IS EAST COUNTY. THE COUNTY STARTS ALL THE WAY UP IN LANCASTER AND GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE LONG BEACH BORDER. WE GO FROM THE COUNTY LINE IN VENTURA, ALL THE WAY OUT TO POMONA, 4300 ACRES. SO WE HAVE A FIRE EAST OF THE PALISADES FIRE THAT BEGAN LAST NIGHT. IT’S CALLED THE EATON FIRE. IT’S CURRENTLY 10,600 ACRES, 0% CONTAINMENT. WE HAVE OVER 750 FIREFIGHTERS ON THE LINE. UNFORTUNATELY, TWO PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES. RESIDENTS HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES AT THE EATON FIRE. IT’S IMPACTING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF HOMES, NOT ONLY IN THE CITY OF PASADENA, BUT ALSO THE COUNTY AREA OF ALTADENA. AND WE’RE DOING OUR VERY BEST. WE JUST HAD OUR OUT OF STATE RESOURCES ARRIVE FROM ARIZONA AT THE EATON FIRE TO ASSIST US LAST NIGHT AS THE REGION ONE COORDINATOR, I CONTACTED THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES. WE REQUESTED 250 ADDITIONAL ENGINES INTO L.A. COUNTY WITH A THOUSAND PERSONNEL. WE ALSO ARE USING OUR OUR COMPACTS WITH OTHER STATES LIKE ARIZONA, NEVADA, OREGON AND WASHINGTON. FIREFIGHTERS FROM THOSE REGIONS ARE ON THEIR WAY DOWN TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY RIGHT NOW TO ASSIST US. SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION. GOVERNOR, WE ASK FOR A SECONDARY. FOLKS, THE FACT IS THAT DOD, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO RAPIDLY PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FIREFIGHTING PERSONNEL, HIGH VOLTAGE ACROSS THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD. BIZ 80 TWO MIKE CHERRY AIR FIREFIGHTING SYSTEM AND TWO MORE ARE MADE READY FOR THE NATIONAL GUARD AND THE NEVADA NATIONAL GUARD. FOR MORE COMING FROM ARDEN. COMMAND AND THE NAVY. HELICOPTERS IN ORDER TO. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING, ALONG WITH THE TASTE INSPIRED AND CALTRANS TRUCKEE TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY HELP A LONG WAY TO. STAND ON THE THINGS THAT WE NEED TONIGHT THAT YOU’VE ASKED FOR. COPPEROPOLIS QUITE THE CONTRARY, MR. PRESIDENT. JUST FIRST OF ALL. THAT MAJOR DISASTER DECLARATION APPROVED THE NEXT LEVEL OF APPRECIATION ON BEHALF OF ALL THE RESIDENTS HERE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. AS THE CHIEF SAID, WE HAVE PRE-POSITIONED ASSETS THIS WEEKEND IN ANTICIPATION OF THESE WEATHER EVENTS. THE COMPLEXITY OF MULTIPLE FIRES, THE LIKELIHOOD THAT THESE OTHER EVENTS THIS WINTER THAT WILL CONTINUE FOR THE COURSE, OF THE NEXT MANY DAYS, THE IMPACTS OF OVER 1000 STRUCTURES ALREADY DESTROYED, HUNDRED PLUS THOUSAND PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN EVACUATED, LIVES LOST, AND TRADITIONS, LIFESTYLES, PLACES TORN ASUNDER. THIS MEANS THE WORLD TO US AND JUST THE LOSS TRADITIONS. THE PRESIDENT HAPPENED TO BE IN THE REGION, IN TOWN. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO EXPRESS THE LEVEL OF APPRECIATION AND COOPERATION WE RECEIVE. THE WHITE HOUSE IN THIS ADMINISTRATION. SO ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US, MR. PRESIDENT, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE, BUT NOT JUST BEING HERE TODAY. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE SINCE THE MINUTE OF THIS INCIDENT WITH THE TEN ACRE FIRE, LESS THAN 24 OR SO HOURS. TO GO DEEPER INTO YOU, IT’S ASTOUNDING WHAT’S HAPPENED. YOU KNOW, I WANT TO GIVE YOU. MY SON LIVES OUT HERE. AND HIS WIFE OUT THERE. THEY GOT NOTIFICATION YESTERDAY. THEIR HOME GROUND TODAY. WE’RE NOT SURE IF THE GOOD NEWS IS I’M A GREAT GRANDFATHER. AS OF TODAY. SAND BOILS. BABY GIRL, BABY BOY. SO IF YOU REMEMBER THIS DAY FOR A LOT OF REASONS. THANK YOU. PRESS. THANK YOU. FOR YOUR HEART. YOU GO THAT WAY. AND GOING OUT THIS WAY. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. PRESS FOR EXITING THIS WAY. PRESS FOR WALKING OUT. THANK YOU. PRESIDENT. THANK YOU. GOT IT. YOU GOT. OR YOU WERE JUST LISTENING AND WATCHING THERE AS PRESIDENT BIDEN AND GOVERNOR NEWSOM WERE BRIEFED ON THE DAMAGE THAT LOS ANGELES COUNTY IS SEEING RIGHT NOW DUE TO THREE MASSIVE WILDFIRES, THE LARGEST BEING THE EDEN, WHICH HAS BURNED 10,600 ACRES SO FAR. AND OF COURSE, THESE FIRES HAVE ALSO TURNED DEADLY THIS MORNING. GOOD TO GET AN UPDATE FROM ALL THOSE DIFFERENT FIRE OFFICIALS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. AND TALKING A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW THAT SECOND FIRE THAT STARTED LAST NIGHT IN EDEN DID TURN DEADLY, AS YOU MENTIONED, WITH TWO PEOPLE LOSING THEIR LIVES, WE STILL DON’T KNOW A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THAT. BUT YOU DID HEAR GOVERNOR NEWSOM, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS HARD TO HEAR HIM AND THE PRESIDENT, YOU DID HEAR HIM TALK ABOUT HOW THEY’VE, YOU KNOW, HAD TO MOVE ASSETS AROUND JUST BECAUSE NOW WE’RE DEALING WITH THREE FIRES, NOT JUST ONE FIRE, THREE FIRES. EARLIER THIS MORNING, L.A. COUNTY OFFICIALS SAY THAT THEY WERE ALSO, NOT ONLY IS IT ALL AN ALL HANDS ON DECK SITUATION, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, BUT THEY’RE ALSO GETTING RESOURCES IN FROM WASHINGTON STATE, OREGON AND NEVADA AS WELL, WHO ARE ALL COMING IN. AND THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF PLEAS THIS MORNING FROM OTHER STATES SAYING, YOU KNOW, WE’RE GOING TO BE SENDING FIREFIGHTERS THERE TO YOU WHATEVER YOU NEED TO HELP IN THIS UNPRECEDENTED SITUATION. THAT ONE FIRE OFFICIAL SAID SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING, MIKE, AND IT’S SOMETHING THAT WE BECAUSE WE’VE BEEN SO FOCUSED ON WHAT’S HAPPENING AS WE’RE LOOKING AT LIVE PICTURES RIGHT NOW OF ANOTHER STRUCTURE BURNING BEFORE OUR EYES, IS THAT THE NEXT FIVE YEARS FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARE GOING TO BE INTENSE, NOT JUST A SUPER BOWL, BUT AN OLYMPICS AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT GO ON WITH HAVING, YOU KNOW, TWO NFL TEAMS AND TWO NBA TEAMS AND HUGE COLLEGES LIKE USC AND UCLA. SO THEY JUST HAVE SO MANY EVENTS. AND HE SAID, WE’RE REALLY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET A HANDLE ON THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS, BECAUSE THIS WAS ALREADY GOING TO BE A POTENTIALLY DESTRUCTIVE WIND EVENT. YES. BEFORE THERE WAS A SPARK, BEFORE THERE WAS A BRUSH FIRE, IT WAS ALREADY GOING TO BE AN INTENSE AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. YEAH. AND AND OVERNIGHT TOO, YOU KNOW, WE ENDED UP SEEING A LOT OF BASKETBALL TEAMS. YOU TALKED ABOUT THE PROFESSIONAL TEAMS, THEIR BASKETBALL TEAMS THAT ARE PLAYING OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA LIKE THE LAKERS. THEY WERE TRYING TO GET BACK INTO LOS ANGELES LAST NIGHT, BUT IT WAS A NO FLY ZONE SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE WINDS, BECAUSE OF ALL THE SMOKE THAT YOU SAW, JUST A LOT OF DANGER IN THAT AREA. AND WE JUST GOT WORD THAT LOS ANGELES MAYOR SAID THAT NOW THEY ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO START PUTTING THOSE PLANES BACK UP IN THE AIR TO HELP FIGHT THESE FIRES, BECAUSE, AGAIN, THOSE WERE GROUNDED AS WELL, JUST BECAUSE OF THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS. I MEAN, YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THESE PICTURES HERE. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK FROM UP ABOVE. AND YOU CAN JUST SEE NOTHING BUT SMOKE AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE. WELL, AND BECAUSE WE ARE GETTING THESE LIVE AERIAL PICTURES NOW FROM KABC, THEY COULDN’T FLY THEIR HELICOPTERS YESTERDAY. SO EVEN YESTERDAY AT THIS HOUR, YOU KNOW, WE DIDN’T HAVE THOSE AERIAL PICTURES TO GIVE YOU A GOOD VANTAGE POINT BECAUSE IT WAS JUST TOO WINDY TO PUT A NEWS CHOPPER UP TO PUT ANY TYPE OF AIRCRAFT BESIDES THE NECESSARY AIRCRAFT. THEY DID HAVE FIREFIGHTING AIRCRAFT UP IN THE AIR. WE SAW THE BIG PLANES OUT THERE YESTERDAY. THE BIG FIXED WING PLANES. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, I MEAN, THAT’S ALL THEY CAN DO. AND LOOK AT THIS HERE, MIKE, I KNOW THIS IS A SCENE THAT YOU SAW MANY TIMES THIS MORNING. IT LOOKS LIKE THAT’S SOMEBODY AT THEIR HOME THAT IS JUST STARTED TO CATCH FLAMES. AND, YOU KNOW, NOT MUCH YOU CAN DO. YOU’VE GOT OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROOF NEXT TO THAT HOUSE. YOU KNOW, PEOPLE JUST RUNNING IN A PANIC. YEAH. A LOT OF FOLKS TRYING TO DO WHAT THEY CAN TO MAYBE NOT EVEN JUST SAVE THEIR HOMES, BUT SOMETIMES TRYING TO SAVE THE HOMES OF THEIR NEIGHBORS. AND AS WE HAVE SEEN, SOME OF THESE IMAGES COME TO LIGHT THIS MORNING, WE’RE JUST STARTING TO SEE THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG AS FAR AS THE DESTRUCTION LEFT BEHIND, BECAUSE THOSE SANTA ANA WINDS WERE SO STRONG OVERNIGHT, THERE WAS NO RELIEF FOR FIREFIGHTERS, AND WE’RE STARTING TO SEE NOT JUST STREETS, NOT JUST TOWNS, BUT JUST ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOODS THAT ARE COMPLETELY JUST LEVELED. THIS MORNING. HOMES GUTTED. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SMALL BUSINESSES. AND I KNOW THAT THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF TALK OF, YOU KNOW, SOME OF THESE AREAS MIGHT BE SOME OF THE MORE WEALTHIER TO DO TYPE FOLKS, BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF FOLKS, WORKING CLASS FOLKS WHO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR GENERATIONS WITHIN THESE NEIGHBORHOODS. AGAIN, THE SMALL MOM AND POP SHOPS. SO THERE IS A LOT OF JUST AVERAGE FOLKS WHO ARE REALLY JUST HAVING THE WORST DAYS OF THEIR LIFE RIGHT NOW. WELL, AND AND JUST THE, THE, THE HOUSE THAT WE SAW ON FIRE JUST MOMENTS AGO, I MEAN, THAT WAS A VERY, YOU KNOW, MODEST HOME. IT’S NOT LIKE ONE OF THESE HUGE MANSIONS THAT WE’VE SEEN WHERE THEY’RE ON, YOU KNOW, ACREAGE AND THAT SORT OF THING. THIS WAS A THE ONE THAT WE JUST SAW MINUTES AGO. THAT WAS A VERY THAT WAS A VERY MODEST HOME. AND, YOU KNOW, FOR SOME OF THESE PEOPLE, THEY PUT EVERYTHING THEY HAVE, YOU KNOW, INTO, INTO BUYING THESE HOMES. AND YES, THEY’RE MUCH, MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT THAT SQUARE FOOTAGE WOULD GET YOU HERE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. BUT STILL, IT’S IT’S ALL RELATIVE. AND THAT IS SOMEONE’S LIFE. YOU KNOW, MAYBE THEIR LIFE SAVINGS AS WE’RE TAKING ANOTHER AERIAL PICTURE, WHICH WE DID NOT HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF HAVING THIS, THAT LOOKS LIKE A SEA OF FIRE. IT REALLY DOES. IT LOOKS LIKE A SEA OF FIRE. AND I DON’T THAT MIGHT BE. THAT’S BECAUSE THE GLOW OFF OF THE OCEAN. OKAY. THAT’S WHAT THAT MAYBE. POSSIBLY. I’M NOT SURE I’VE EVER SEEN ANYTHING. YOU KNOW, IT’S TOUGH TO. IT’S TOUGH TO DECIPHER BECAUSE, AGAIN, THERE IS SO MUCH SMOKE AND SO MUCH FLAME. THAT’S PROBABLY WHY. BUT YOU WERE SEEING THE GLOW, THE ORANGE GLOW ON THE WATER THERE. AND THAT JUST THAT MADE MY HEART STOP THERE FOR A SECOND. BUT YOU COULD SEE JUST WHAT A INHABITED AREA THIS IS. THERE ARE JUST HOMES FOR AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE HERE. AND WHEN THE FLAMES ARE THAT BIG, WHEN WE’RE THIS FAR AWAY, YOU KNOW THEY’RE GINORMOUS IN PERSON. AND, YOU KNOW, IF WE CAN GO BACK TO THE IMAGES COMING FROM THE RESIDENTS, I KNOW WE HAVE A I KNOW IT’S NOT THE MOST STABLE SHOT IN THE WORLD, BUT YOU CAN SEE AGAIN, THOSE THOSE FOLKS UP THERE ON THE ROOFTOP DOING WHAT THEY CAN. I MEAN, WE’VE SEEN A LOT OF THIS. WE’VE SEEN FIRE CREWS WHO HAVE BEEN THEY ARE WORKING FULL TILT THIS MORNING. YOU KNOW, YOU HAVE A LOT OF THESE TANKERS THAT ARE GOING UP AND DOWN THE STREETS AND THEY’RE ALMOST PERFORMING ALMOST LIKE A TRIAGE OF SORTS IN TRYING TO DECIDE WHAT HOMES CAN THEY HELP, WHAT INDIVIDUALS CAN THEY STOP AND HELP, YOU KNOW, ADDRESS THESE FIRES. BECAUSE THOSE TANKERS, AS WE KNOW, THEY’RE NOT UNLIMITED WITH THE AMOUNT OF WATER THAT THEY CARRY AND WATER ACCESS ITSELF IS NOT 100% DEPENDING ON WHAT STREETS THEY’RE ON. THIS HOME ALMOST LOOKS LIKE IT MAY EVEN HAVE SOME TYPE OF A WHEELCHAIR RAMP OR SOMETHING IN FRONT OF IT. SO, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE THERE’S NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE RUSHING TO THE SCENE, HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW, MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE, YEAH, WHOEVER WAS IN THERE WAS ABLE TO GET OUT. AND NOW THEY’RE JUST TRYING TO SAVE PROPERTY. BUT I MEAN, YOU KNOW, THERE’S A HOUSE ON FIRE AND YOU CAN SEE, YOU KNOW, COPS ARE YOU KNOW, THEY’RE JUST DRIVING BY. THERE’S JUST SO MUCH, SO MUCH GOING ON. YEAH. AT THIS POINT IT IS PRETTY MUCH MORE OF A RESCUE EFFORT FROM FIRST RESPONDERS TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY CAN HELP WHOEVER THEY MAY NEED TO. PEOPLE ARE GETTING OUT AND GETTING OUT OF THE WAY OF THOSE FLAMES, AND THOSE PEOPLE STAYING BY EN TRYING TO PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH THE HOSES AND THE PEOPLE SITTING ON THE ROOF AND NEXT DOOR. I MEAN, YOUR HEART GOES OUT TO THEM. THAT’S DEFINITELY NOT WHAT FIRE OFFICIALS WANT YOU TO DO, BECAUSE THAT WHOLE SITUATION CAN TURN VERY QUICKLY AND TURN ON YOU. AND THOSE HOSES REALLY AREN’T GOING TO DO MUCH. BUT I GET IT. I MIGHT BE DOING THE SAME THING. YOU JUST FEEL SO DESPERATE IN THE MOMENT. YES, ABSOLUTELY. THAT’S A THAT’S A PERFECT WORD FOR THIS THIS MORNING AND THIS EVENT. AND UNFORTUNATELY THOSE WINDS AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE. AND YOU KNOW, HOPEFULLY, HOPEFULLY AT SOME POINT FIREFIGHTERS GET SOME SORT OF RELIEF WINDS THAT TOPPED AS THEY, AS THEY SAID, 100MPH WIND GUSTS OVERNIGHT AT 100MPH FOR THE WEST COAST. THAT IS JUST UNPRECEDENTED. AND AT LEAST THEY ARE GETTING A LITTLE BIT OF THOSE FLAMES OUT. SO WE JUST WISH ALL THESE PEOPLE THE BEST. WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THIS FOR YOU. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE THE VERY LATEST COMING UP ON THE KCRA THREE NEWS AT NOON IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES. WE’LL SEE YOU BACK HERE ON KCRA THREE. AND MY58. WE’
