Al equipo de India le encantaría establecer un objetivo de más de 200 para mantener la nariz en alto en la cuarta entrada en el SCG.
The fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test is anyone’s game as of now. India have a 145-run lead on a track where only once a 200+ run total has been chased since 2000. But Australia came out with all guns blazing as they rattled the top-order once again. Scott Boland has been the arch-nemesis for India. Day 3 of the SCG Test will be a do-or-die day for either team and former Australian great Brett Lee backs India to pull off a stunning victory.
Lee credits Nitish Reddy when IND lost Bumrah
Brett Lee found it quite awesome for India when Nitish Kumar Reddy pulled through with two wickets. It came in a moment when India lost Jaspit Bumrah due to a back issue in the first innings. India’s pace attack stepped up in Bumrah’s absence, restricting Australia to 174/9. Mohammed Siraj took key wickets, including Sam Konstas and Travis Head, while Prasidh Krishna claimed three of Australia’s top scorers, including Steve Smith, Alex Carey, and Beau Webster.
Nitish Kumar Reddy also chipped in with wickets, dismissing Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Bumrah had started the day strongly, taking the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne before leaving the field due to injury. “I was so happy for India that they had Nitish Reddy, who picked up two wickets, literally as Bumrah’s getting whisked away in the car to go get a scan done,” Lee said to Fox Sports.
India to finish BGT at 2-2?
“I think (India’s pace bowlers) can do it. It’s going to be tougher for them, because Bumrah has been the enforcer. But sometimes, when you take away the main enforcer and the rest of the pack step up, that’s obviously when they can play their best cricket. It can go two ways. They can either, get destroyed in the second innings, or they can do what they did in the first innings and step up to the plate, which I think they will on this wicket,” said Lee.
Lee credited India for putting up a show with the ball in the first innings, especially at a moment when they lost the main man, Bumrah. He is of the belief that under pressure, Australian batting can struggle once the Indian bowlers step up. It would be fascinating how much India would give to Australia to chase it down. Batting in the fourth innings on a topsy-turvy deck won’t be easy at all for the hosts.
India must secure a Test victory to hold onto the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) and keep their hopes alive for a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
