Jasprit Bumrah has been a one-man army and often hasn’t had the best support from his pace deputy, Siraj. With the series on the line in Sydney, Siraj was pumped up and ready to show he’s still got it. He was on the money from the get-go on the morning of the second day.
He was threatening the batters, bowling tight lines. In his fifth over, with Bumrah already giving the first breakthrough by sending Marnus Labuschagne back, Siraj thought he’d do some magic of his own. In the previous over, Sam Konstas had reverse ramped Bumrah once again and seemed a bit jittery.
Siraj gets Sam Konstas & Travis Head
Siraj, in a bid to tempt Konstas, bowled a full-length ball outside off. The Australian opener went for it but only got an edge that carried to Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully. Siraj and Team India were pumped.
In came the dangerous Travis Head, with whom Siraj had gotten into it in Adelaide. Siraj targetted Head around his off stumps. After a miss-and-play and a boundary whipped off his stumps, Head edged a ball in the channel to KL Rahul stationed at second slip.
Head, despite his last three failures, remains the highest scorer of the India vs Australia Test series and possesses the ability to change the match in just one session with the crucial wicket. His walking back to the pavilion also brought debutant Beau Webster to the crease.
