This meant that Shubman Gill came back into the side, and Jasprit Bumrah, who led Team India in Perth, also took over the side for the last match of the India vs Australia Test series.

Rohit looked uninspiring both as a batter and captain with no signs of improvement. With young batters already there and Bumrah ready to take over, it didn’t seem a tough decision to let go of Rohit. It seems like the opener may have played his last Test match. Perhaps if Team India reaches the World Test Championship (WTC) final, then he might be given another game; otherwise, it seems curtains on his red-ball career.
