IND vs AUS: Aún no se sabe si Rohit Sharma jugará la quinta y última prueba en el SCG.
On Wednesday, a report had surfaced in the Indian Express, that all was not well between the Indian team, and coach Gautam Gambhir had lashed out at the players, after losing the fourth Test in Melbourne. There were also rumours of rift between the players, the coach not getting certain players, playing XI issues and retirement talks around skipper Rohit Sharma.
Gautam Gambhir Clear the Air
But as soon as Gautam Gambhir addressed the media, on the eve of the fifth and final IND vs AUS Test at the SCG, he trashed all the gossip doing the rounds. Asked about the same, the ex-India cricketer was quick to respond, “Debates between a player and a coach should stay between them. Any conversations in the dressing room should stay in the dressing room.”
Quoted as saying by RevSportz, he further added, “Those are just reports, not the truth, I don’t need to comment on any reports. Honesty is important, we want to go on and achieve some great things.” Meanwhile, the surprising bit of the PC wasn’t this, but when Gambhir shied away from commenting, if Rohit Sharma, who has failed in the series, be part of the playing XI for the SCG Test, starting Friday.
No Clarity on Rohit Sharma
All he said was, “We will take Playing XI call after looking at pitch tomorrow.” But what he did confirm was, pacer Akash Deep would miss out due to a back injury, but the replacement for him was not revealed. It would most likely be Harshit Rana, who has picked up 4 wickets in the series so far in two matches. But India also has the option of Prasidh Krishna, who in the IND A vs AUS A series, had picked up 10 wickets.
