“Ahora tenemos confianza”: Labuschagne reflexiona sobre la reciente asociación IND-AUS y los errores de la India

Marnus Labuschagne reflexiona sobre la confianza de Australia de cara al quinto día, elogiando la asociación del último terreno y destacando los errores de la India en las pruebas IND y AUS.

It was an intense Day 4 of the IND vs AUS Test in Melbourne. Both teams were on fire and finally, the day ended with Australia at 228/9 having a lead of 333 runs. Starting the day, India quickly wrapped up their innings for 369, trailing Australia by 105 runs. As Australia began their second innings. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj put relentless pressure on the Australian batters, making runs hard to come by. Marnus Labuschagne is the only batter who came up with a half century with a 70-run knock. Following the day’s play, Marnus Labuschagne took questions at the press conference, expressing satisfaction with Australia’s position.

Australia is strong we were ahead

“Felt we were ahead just the whole way. We go into day 5 just ahead. It was amazing to watch scrapping for runs. We even had the game finished on a no-ball wicket and then the outside edge four.” said Marnus. He believes that they are in a strong position now. Labuschagne was full of praise for his teammates, particularly the leader, Pat Cummins. “Pat was awesome. It’s a process and how we navigate the lower order and trusted that is gonna be the way. He took the game on and just finds some way,” he said.

How did Aussies deal with Bumrah

Discussing their approach to facing the Indian bowling attack, Labuschagne mentioned a strategic move he proposed to Cummins during the match. “When Pat came out, I said I think I should face Bumrah. He was hot, just took three wickets. But let’s make sure when Bumrah bowls we can face as many overs as we can.” This explained Aussies approach to face Bumrah.

We were thinking of 250-270 runs target at one point

Later in the innings, Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland developed a half century partnership. Marnus is happy with that, “We have the perfect outcome for us. The way wicket played and India bowled it wasn’t an option. Let’s get as many as we can. There was a time when 250-270 maybe even less. Credit to lower order.” he concluded.
