La Premier League de Bangladesh (BPL) 2024/25 está programada para albergar 4 partidos de prueba en Pakistán.
Pakistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, is set to feature in the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). According to reports, he is signed by defending champions Fortune Barishal, sparking questions about his commitment to Test cricket amidst a packed international schedule. The 24-year-old pacer, known for his lethal left-arm pace, will be making his BPL debut this upcoming season.
Shaheen to play BPL, but has PCB granted NOC?
Reports from Bangladeshi media confirm that Afridi has been signed as a direct recruit by the defending champions Fortune Barishal. However, his availability will be limited, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has granted him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) only until January 15, 2025. This restricts Shaheen to Barishal’s first five matches in the tournament, which runs from December 30, 2024, to February 7, 2025.
Barishal boasts a formidable squad for the season, featuring international stars like Kyle Mayers, Dawid Malan, and Mohammad Nabi, alongside local legends including Tamim Iqbal, Mahmadullah Riyad, and Mushfiqur Rahim. Shaheen’s inclusion is expected to bolster their bowling attack massively.

Shaheen Afridi to axe Test cricket?
Shaheen’s decision to play in the BPL raises concerns about his availability for Pakistan’s Test commitments. During the same period, Pakistan is scheduled to play four Tests—two away against South Africa and two at home against the West Indies. Notably, Shaheen is already missing from the squad for the South Africa series. It was shocking not to see his name among Pakistan’s 5-man pace attack for the series against the Proteas. Meanwhile, Shaheen’s NOC is only till January 15, it can always be extended.
