It is the end of an era. India Cricket Team veteran spinner and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has finally announced his retirement from International cricket. After the conclusion of the Gabba Test on Day 5 of the IND vs AUS 3rd Test, Ashwin hung out his boots. And now after his shock retirement, Ashwin is set to fly back home on 19th December.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma claimed that he heard about Ravi Ashwin‘s retirement plans after having landed in Perth. He then went on to explain that he forced and convinced Ashwin not to retire immediately and stay on till the IND vs AUS Pink Ball Test.

But now, after Ravichandran Ashwin announced his shock retirement, he won’t be remaining with the team for the remainder of the series. “He is flying back to India tomorrow,” confirmed Rohit Sharma.
“Heard about R Ashwin’s retirement when I came to Perth. He understands what the team is thinking, and combinations what the team is thinking. I convinced him to stay for the pink-ball Test,” Rohit Sharma said in the Press Conference.
Ravichandran Ashwin has been a legend for India in the red ball format of the game. He featured in 106 Test matches where the ace-allrounder raked up 3503 runs. He retires as the second-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests with 537 scalps to his name.
