La primera etapa de Mitchell Santner como capitán permanente de pelota blanca de Nueva Zelanda será contra Sri Lanka.
A new captain of the New Zealand Cricket Team has been chosen in the white ball format and it is Mitchell Santner. This change happened after Kane Williamson relinquished his post after the ICC t20 World Cup. Santner has previously led the Black Caps, but as the captain of the Kiwis in a full-time role will begin against the Lankans.
Ace all-rounder Micthell Santner has the credit and experience of leading his side on 24 T20Is and 4 ODI games. But now the job is more difficult as he is now the permanent captain in white ball format. Interestingly, it will be worth watching how the team fairs with this crucial change coming right before the ICC Champions Trophy.
New Kiwi Captain before Champions Trophy
“It’s obviously a huge honour and a privilege to be asked. When you’re a young kid the dream was always to play for New Zealand but to have the opportunity to officially lead my country in two formats is special,” Mitchell Santner said.
“It’s a new challenge and I’m excited to get stuck into the important period of white ball cricket that we have ahead of us,” Santner added,
Mitchell Santner has also been good in the longest format of the game. His recent exploits in red ball cricket have earned quite a name for him in recent times. He was adjudged the Man of the Match against India in Pune and against England in Hamilton.
