Simran Sheikh se convirtió en el jugador más caro de la historia de las subastas de la WPL.
Simran Shaikh, the most expensive buy of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction, may idolise top stars like Smriti Mandhana or Mithali Raj. Still, her dream is to meet the most famous cricketer in modern cricket, Virat Kohli. The 22-year-old batter who hails from Mumbai was bagged by the Gujarat Giants Women (GG-W) for a whopping Rs 1.90 crore, just 10 lakhs less than what Kashvee Gautam got last year.
First family, now own dreams
For the unaware, I grew up in Dharavi, one of the biggest slums in the world. She used to live with 10 more members in her two-room home, and her father, Jahid Ali, struggled to make ends meet.
“Zindagi bhar yeh gali-kuchar mein nikal diya. Zhopde mein rahe. (Our whole lives we have lived near narrow lanes with open gutters in the slum). Eleven people in our family live in two rooms. Now with this money, we will buy a good house and live a decent life. Thank God I didn’t listen to friends who told me to dissuade Simran from playing cricket,” Jahid told Indian Express.

With what’s come her way, Simran has already achieved one of her dreams and is ready to give her family everything they need. Now it’s time to tick other things off the bucket list.
“I like Virat Kohli, sir, a lot. It’s a big dream to meet him,” Simran told ANI. “My journey has started now. I want to give my best and work hard. I want one more jersey, which is the India jersey. I will work hard to achieve that dream,” the 22-year-old added.
