Captain Mohammad Amaan smacked an unbeaten knock of 122 runs off 118 balls, packed with seven fours, as India set a target of 340 runs. Meanwhile, Ayush Mhatre (54) and Karthikeya KP (57) got half-centuries for India. For Japan, Hugo Kelly and Kiefer Yamamoto Lake bagged two-wicket hauls, respectively. A lot of eyes were on Vaibhav Suryavanshi in India’s previous match, who had earned an IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals before the start of the tournament. Suryavanshi’s struggles against seam bowling was apparent during his brief stay as India U-19, comprising IPL contract owners, struggled.
Speaking about the match, Japan won the toss opted to have a bowl first. The Indian side got off to a perfect start as India openers Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed 65 runs in 7.2 overs. Skipper Amaan’s 122* has taken India to 339/6 in 50 overs.
