Jay Shah se hace cargo de ICC después del choque del Champions Trophy entre BCCI y PCB
Jay Shah has finally taken charge as the chairman of the ICC. There were initial reports that his tenure is set to face a one-month delay. But now that is not the case. The former BCCI Secretary has taken over the chief role of the ICC as the ICC Champions Trophy tussle between BCCI vs PCB is now over.
Shah has claimed that he is honored to be the chief of the ICC. And now his main priority lies in improving the women’s game. Furthermore, he plans to leverage the inclusion of cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
Jay Shah assumes charge of ICC
“I am honoured to take on the role of ICC Chair and grateful for the support and trust of the ICC Directors and Member Boards. This is an exciting time for the sport as we prepare for the LA28 Olympic Games and work to make cricket more inclusive and engaging for fans worldwide. We are at a critical juncture with the coexistence of multiple formats and the need to accelerate the growth of the women’s game,” Jay Shah told the ICC.
Jay Shah previously became the youngest secretary of the BCCI when he assumed charge in 2019. He also served as the President of the ACC. “Cricket holds immense potential globally, and I look forward to working closely with the ICC team and Member countries to seize these opportunities and take the sport to new heights,” he added.
In the meantime, the conflict between the BCCI and the PCB is now finally settled. It is believed that the PCB has accepted the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy. In return, the PCB has demanded a higher revenue share from the ICC.
