Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra was left shell shocked after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) doubled the bid for Noor Ahmad after the former used a Right to Match (RTM) card at the IPL 2025 auction. The Afghan spinner was bagged for Rs 10 cr by Ruturaj Gaikwad and co, making his move from GT to CSK. Ahmad will be the first player of Afghan nationality to play for the five-time champions.

Registered for a base price of Rs 2 crore, Noor Ahmad saw CSK bid for him right at the start. After an intense bidding war, GT decided to use RTM card when the bid was at Rs 5 cr to try and trump CSK. However, Stephen Fleming’s gamble to double the bid to Rs 10 cr after GT’s RTM usage caught Ashish Nehra off guard. A perplexed Nehra couldn’t help but smile as CSK secured the services of Ahmad.
