Yuzvendra Chahal has been mighty unlucky in the last few years. Despite performing decently well for RCB, he was let go by the team in 2021. And now, at the IPL retention 2024, he was not retained by RR. All this despite bagging wickets for both the franchises. But now, at the opening fixture of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he managed to bag 4/9 against Manipur in Mumbai on Saturday.
That means, he has sent a reminder to all the franchises, that he still possesses wicket-taking abilities, ahead of the IPL Auction on November 24, 25. Actually, with this performance, he could be on the radar of many teams, who are looking for a spin wicket-taking option. Especially, MI, who retained their core team, but are on the lookout for decent bowlers.
Having said that, he could bag a huge sum at the IPL auction, given his excellent track record in the tournament. In 160 matches, he has 205 wickets. Just in 2024 season, he had 18 wickets in 15 matches for RR.
As far as the match is concerned, it was rather one-sided. After restricting Manipur to 86, Haryana went on to achieve the target in only 6.4 overs. Rahul Tewatia was exceptional with the bat and went on to score 43 from just 16 deliveries. And that was enough for Haryana to sail home easily, against an easier opposition.
