El neozelandés Doug Bracewell ha sido suspendido durante un mes por abuso de drogas

Doug Bracewell fue reprendido por conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol y su licencia fue suspendida por 8 meses.

New Zealand pacer Doug Bracewell was slapped with a one-month ban after he was found positive for using cocaine. The Kiwi speedster tested positive earlier this year and then went on to serve his suspension in April. Since the drug usage didn’t have any effect on his performance he was slapped with a small ban.

In actual cases, a three-month ban is levied on the accused. Doug Bracewell tested positive for both cocaine and metabolite Benzoylecgonine in January while he was taking part in a domestic T20 tournament for the Central Districts. In his match against Wellington, he scalped 2 wickets and scored a quickfire 30 from 11 balls.

Kiwi pacer serves ban for substance abuse

It was revealed that his drug usage didn’t have any effect on his performance. Following this he was handed a month ban with the understanding that he would complete a treatment program on substance abuse.

“NZC is committed to promoting safe and responsible behaviours and is frustrated at this latest turn of events. Doug accepts full responsibility for his error of judgement; the consequences of his behaviour, and the penalty imposed. As an organisation, we will continue to provide support for Doug – who is fully aware of our expectations moving forward,” New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink said.

This, however, isn’t the first time that Doug Bracewell has been under the scanner. Previously he was fined for drinking and driving. As a result, he was banned from driving for a period of 8 months.
